What to Expect During Counseling Sessions
Sessions are typically 45-60 minutes long, although the initial session or two are 60 minutes. The first few sessions will be an assessment period to collect information to help us collaborate in creating goals for treatment. Please know it's normal to be nervous about counseling, especially if you've never been or aren't quite sure what to talk about - I understand. My goal is to build rapport with my clients from the start to help them feel comfortable with the process of counseling. In order to help my clients, I utilize a variety of therapeutic models, tailored to each client or situation, including mindfulness-based Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Solution-Focused, and Family Systems.
