Educational Meetings for Adults and Food Allergy Parents

Ever wanted to ask a qualified professional questions about living with allergies, allergy parenting, or how to find balance after being diagnosed, but don't need therapy?

Then consider booking an educational food allergy consultation meeting with Tamara to receive useful, evidence-based information that helps you gain clarity on living with and/or parenting a child with food allergy and developing a balanced approach to life with allergies!

Unlike food allergy counseling which is therapeutic in nature, these educational consultation sessions are:

  • 100% informational in nature, offering evidence-based education, recommendations, and resources

  • Brief and targeted; typically limited to 1-3 meetings depending on discussion topics

  • Focused on exploring and clarifying a specific allergy-related topic or problem you're looking to better understand or navigate

  • NOT therapeutic guidance or focused on treating food allergy anxiety; they are discussions centered on psychoeducation, problem-solving, and solution-seeking

  • NOT medical information/guidance, as this is outside of my scope of practice; these meetings can help you clarify questions for your allergist and allergy care team

Within these personalized consultation meetings, we will discuss your questions and review helpful evidence-based information and psychoeducation. This information will help you develop a clearer picture for how you can proceed forward feeling less overwhelmed and more empowered.

Session focuses may include, but are not limited to:

  • Individual and parenting psychoeducation information and recommendations

  • Psychoeducation to help you develop a growth mindset for oral immunotherapy (OIT)

  • Basic food allergy anxiety psychoeducation to help understand the root of it and its impacts on daily functioning and parenting

  • Gaining a better understanding of why you're feeling overwhelmed so you can more effectively develop your solutions and find support services

  • Identifying specific aspects of allergy life that you could use more education about, skill development for, and practice with

  • Development of questions to ask your allergist and allergy care team, which will help you gain confidence and develop skills to balance fear and living fully

  • Review of allergic disease information sources to help you discern whether they're evidence-based, and if they're helping or hindering your ability to balance fear and living fully

  • Recommendations of reputable, evidence-based allergy-focused informational websites, online supports, and resources

  • Provider recommendations as needed and as appropriate (e.g. board certified allergists, allied health practitioners including therapists, dietitians, etc)

Why Work with Tamara

When pursuing food allergy consultation services, it's important to work with someone who is an expert in their respective field, as you want to ensure you're receiving information and education from a qualified and reputable source.

Regarded as an allergy mental health and wellness expert, I r
egularly educate others on these topics via national and international presentations. As an allied health member of both the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, and the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, where I present annually, I stay on top of best practices in allergy and immunology. Additionally, I have relationships with many allergists and allied healthcare providers in this field, allowing me to stay on top of evidence-based information and resources, and reassuring you that I am well-respected within allergy and immunology.

As a result of my clinical experience and deep knowledge of IgE-mediated food allergy and related allergic conditions, I'm well-equipped to help you process allergy information, develop clarifying questions for your healthcare team, and offer life-impacting education to help you move forward using a balanced approach to allergy management!

While I will not provide medical information or guidance, as this is outside of my scope of practice, my consistent exposure to this up-to-date information ensures that I am able to help you understand the relationship between mental health and allergies and help you develop questions to follow up on with your allergist/healthcare team.
